I am in a situation I never thought I would be in. My family has two dogs, one is the pyr and the other is a 9 year old mix medium breed. They have been found quilty of running at large and killing cats, despite the fact that we have 2 cats of our own whom they love and don't harass at all. What this means is if it happens again they will be probably seized, a court date set, and who knows after that. So, I went on line to try and find some rescue groups that may help me place both dogs, however, I am contacting you with the intent of focusing on our Pyr, Cash, as your rescue name implies. I contacted Appalachain GRT PYR rescue in Varina ... (Read More)this past summer after the first cat incident, however they said they would not be able to take Cash in at that time. Any help placing our GREAT dog is appreciated. Description of Cash: PROS - 6 yr old purebred Great Pyrenees, neutered male. Acts like he's 2! Great with all people. Great with other dogs, goes to dog park. Has been a house dog although loves the outside, especially in the cooler months. We have had horses before and he was great in the yard (huge yard) with them. 150% housebroken. Doesn't get on the furniture and prefers his dog beds. Loves to be brushed and lets you trim feet hair and nails. AND-He's GORGEOUS!! CONS - HUGE ESCAPE ARTIST!!! Is squeezing through our pool fence, which if you know what that is looks impossible but he does it. Used to jump our fence until we hot wired the top. He now no longer jumps. Although he is a 'flock guardian', the prey drive in him has been awakened by running with our mix breed and now when they get out they are on the look out for cats. He doesn't seem to do this when he gets out alone. If there is anyway you can assist me in placing Cash I would be forever grateful. He should not be relocated in Hanover County, VA is what the Hanover County Animal Control has told me. Another county means a fresh start for Cash. Must be knowledgeable about breed. Must have fenced yard. More pics available upon request. Thank you , Michelle McLaughlin mclfarm83@gmail.com (Less)
