Rescue Me ID: 15-08-18-00215Sister (female)

Great Pyrenees Mix    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

If you've always wanted a big sister, then this Sister is for you! Like a small lion, she's not only got a fabulous look, but she's got such a sweet heart that you can't help but wrap your arms around her. She's had her hair cut for the summer, but when her coat grows out Sister is a fluffy bear of a dog who loves to put her head in your lap and receive scratches behind her ears. She and her sister Daisy had lovely owners who took good care of them, but as the folks aged they just weren't able to keep up with the girls care. Their coats grew thicker and more matted, they couldn't bring them in as much, and they just weren't getting the ... (Read More)attention and affection they deserved. When their owners were finally moved into assisted living, the girls needed a place to go. Now it's their chance to find another home where they can get all the love and attention they deserve. Sister can be a little shy and first, and when she meets you she'll keep her distance but give you a big smile. After a few minutes she'll come up and let you give her a pet. She loves to be scratched under her chin and on her chest and of course behind her ears. She does wonderfully with other dogs and doesn't seem to mind cats much. She is housebroken and is crate trained, although she'd much rather be out and about. Sister is a genuinely sweet girl who doesn't require much exercise and would do well in any home. She would probably do best with older kids at least until she gets more comfortable around new things. If you've been looking for the big Sister you never had, fill out your application today! Rescue Me ID: 15-08-18-00211Daisy (female)

Great Pyrenees Mix    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Not crazy, lazy, or hazy, this Daisy is a shy wallflower who is looking for someone to help her bloom. With some belly rubs and good scratches under the chin, she'll continue to gain confidence. She and her Sister had lovely owners who took good care of them, but as the folks aged they just weren't able to keep up with the girls care. Their coats grew thicker and more matted, they couldn't bring them in as much, and they just weren't getting the attention and affection they deserved. When their owners were finally moved into assisted living, the girls needed a place to go. Now it's their chance to find another home where they can get all the ... (Read More)love and attention they deserve. While Daisy is slightly more shy than her sister, she's definitely the leader of the pair, which might explain why she's more cautious. Her sister doesn't do anything unless Daisy does it first, so once you've settled in she'll approach you and ask for a pet or two. She's a gentle giant who loves to sit next to you and relax. She doesn't require much exercise and would do well in a house or an apartment. Daisy does great with other dogs and doesn't seem to mind the cats she's seen around. She would do well in a home with older children, at least until she becomes a little more confident and comfortable with change. If you've been looking to pick a Daisy, fill out your application for this sweet girl today! (Less)

Patches is a half GreatPyr/half Saint Bernard that is approximately 1-2 years old. He came to us from a high kill shelter in Texas. He is a great, fun loving, young boy that is very smart and very well mannered. He loves playing with smaller dogs and loves to play tug of war. He is very gentle with the smaller dogs. He has now been neutered and is current on all shots and is heartworm negative. He weighs approximately 85 pounds and is full grown. He also is a very good indicator for protection. That is the great Pyr in him. He will bark when someone approaches that he does not know, not to be mean but to let you know someone new is ... (Read More)around. If you are wanting a gorgeous, long haired fluffy boy, please give our Patches the opportunity to win your heart. In concern for families with small children, we will not adopt a dog to a home with any child under the age of 5. This is due to the large size of Saint Bernards and the safety of your children. Our Saint Bernards are not aggressive or mean in any way, they can just knock down children easily. If you would like to visit Patches, please contact St. Cloud's Rescue at www.stcloudsrescue.org or call 1-469-952-3332 or 1-972-679-5319. The first step in adopting from St. Cloud's Rescue is to complete an application. The application may be found OUR WEBSITE (not petfinder.com) at www.stcloudsrescue.org. Please click on the application process, complete and then email it or fax it to us at 1-469-952-3331. Once the application has been sent please call us to confirm that we have received it. St. Clouds Rescue requires new owners to purchase a one year supply of heartworm preventative from us, which is at cost. We require a home visit prior to all placements. There is a $150.00 donation fee. All dogs adopted through St Clouds Rescue must be indoor pets. St. Bernards cannot tolerate the extreme Texas weather conditions. (Less)

Great Pyrenees Mix    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

I met Luke at the spay/neuter clinic when I took another load of critters to fix. One of the techs showed him to me and explained that he came from a ranch. They had to give him up because a smaller/timid dog was afraid of this gentle giant. So I agreed to take him and rehome him -- which hopefully will happen soon because Luke wants to adopt me! LOL We weighed him to get him fixed. 90 lbs He's on HW preventative, is house trained . . . and is a Houdini! Luke spent his first night here -- part of it, anyway -- in a long covered pen. He managed to get the gate open and met my husband at the back door at 0600 this morning! He parks himself ... (Read More)near the door of whichever room I'm in. I had to go on an errand, a few minutes ago. Nobody else was at home. I returned to find Luke on the front sidewalk, waiting for me. [sigh] That makes twice within his first 24 hrs here that he could have taken off for his former home. But he didn't. I really don't need another dog, folks! And, by the way, he's also friendly with these other dogs . . . AND my husband. P.S. I'm listing him as "Luke the Lover" because we have another Luke listed. (Less)

Great Pyrenees Mix    Age: Young Adult

Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

I'm giving the same info for all three beloved dogs (LT Bison, LT Bear, LT Smiley). Their owners' health and traveling issues prevented giving their pets the care and attention they deserved and, until recently, had enjoyed. It was really hard on the couple - especially the husband - to give up these doggies! They're pretty big dogs, each weighing 70-80 lbs. The boys are taller and heavier than their mama. Mama Smiley was originally listed as "a stray hound-type" that adopted the couple. After working with Smiley for a few weeks -- and looking in her mouth to see everything black except for her pink tongue -- I really think she is ... (Read More)a Black-mouth Cur! The boys' papa was most likely a Great Pyrenees because they have 'the look' plus a rather wiry coat. Until coming here to the farm and being with our other fostered dogs, they rarely barked. Bison and Bear are very close brothers. Before they learned 'doggish' behavior from the other dogs they were so quiet that I figured they would be perfect to train as service dogs. I still think so, although they'd need to be reminded of their former manners. That shouldn't take long, once they're in a new environment. Actually, they're comical characters! Very affectionate! Smiley was allowed to stay in the house more often both before she had the pups and during her recovery from being treated for heartworms. She is now quite healthy and, like her pups, affectionate. She's also housebroken -- at least, she was with her former owners. I cannot let her spend time in our house (Less)

Lacey is a 2 yr old Pyrenees mix. She is an extremely sweet and kind girl that is very gregarious and playful with all my other dogs. She is very submissive at this time. These dogs are slow to mature. She still acts like a puppy in spite of her size. She has the double dew claws of the Great Pyrenees and beautiful expressive brown eyes that are lined with eyeliner. I would guess her secondary breed as possible Australian Shepherd or Anatolian. Pictures really do not do her justice. Her coat will be easier to care for than a pure bred pyrenees but it is still thick and luxurious. She will need a large fenced yard. This is not a livestock ... (Read More)guardian dog, but a pet.
