Rescue Me ID: 16-10-10-00272Gandalf (male)

Great Pyrenees    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Average Energy, Somewhat Dominant

Gandalf is a 10 month old White Great Pyrenees, bred by a family breeder in Stokes county, NC. Gandalf's Care and Training: We accepted Gandalf from his breeder when he was eight weeks old, January 3rd 2016. He is intelligent - he learned sit, stay, and roll over when he was two and a half months old and he was house/crate trained at five months. Great Pyrenees are loving, gentle, and loyal. They are great guardians, very independent, sometimes stubborn. We've maintained a high level of intentional training to domesticate Gandalf. Recently, we moved from a suburban cottage, into a downtown, 9th floor apartment which has required us to ... (Read More)step up his obedience training. After noticing Gandalf wasn't happy, we followed up with his breeder to learn more. The first eight weeks are pivotal to any dog's development and we've discovered Gandalf is most likely unhappy in our downtown urban environment because he was bred outside in a barn. We're looking for a new home for Gandalf with a lot of land, or a farm where he can roam to guard territory or livestock. All candidates will be vetted to ensure Gandalf is well taken care of in the future. We require you to submit a list of household family members, other pets or animals, description of Gandalf's new living environment, his responsibilities, and your previous experience with large breed dogs. A large sized crate, working backpack, long leather leash, nylon collar, and training collar will accompany Gandalf. Grooming: Once a month, FUR Pet Salon and Day Spa, Winston-Salem, NC Private In-Home Training: Jim Hodges, Lewisville, NC Timeline of Events: Dec 3, 2015: Gandalf's birthday Jan 25, 2016: Accepted Gandalf from breeder Jan 3, 2016: One month old Feb 2016: Learned how to sit, stay and roll over Mar 3, 2016: Three months old May 2016: Puppy biting ceased, adult teeth present May 2016: Began pulling on walks Jun 2016: House trained, and loves daily long walks (1-2 miles) Jun 3, 2016: Six months old Jun 2016: Showed possession with toys Jul 2016: No longer possessive with toys Jul 2016: Difficult to walk due to pulling Aug 5, 2016: Personal trainer, in home training session Aug 6, 2016: Gandalf understands and obeys no pulling on walks Sep 3, 2016: Nine months old Oct 1 2016: Moved into a smaller apartment Oct 3, 2016: Ten months old Oct 5, 2016: Neutered at Central Spay Neuter and Wellness Clinic, 2780 W Mountain St, Kernersville, NC 27284. Rescue Me ID: 16-10-08-00097Akio (male)

Great Pyrenees    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Submissive
Health: Needs to be Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Akio (pronounced Ah-key-oh) was born on a North Carolina farm as part of the farmers first litter of Great Pyrenees (sheep dogs) pups. His parents still guard the farm and protect the family that lives there. Akio's birthday is January 6th 2016 and we have had him since he was about 6.5wks old. This gentle giant is currently 9months old. Akio is an all white handsome fella who is a great family pet. He loves to play with both kids of all ages and other dogs. He loves to go for walks and play outside rain or shine. He is a fantastic watch dog and has made our house feel safer because no one wants to mess with a large dog. He is ... (Read More)house trained and up to date on shots, heartworm and flea prevention medication. He has been on a quality diet for large breed puppies (4Health from Tractor Supply). Currently this guy is weighing in at about 75lbs and stands at about 36inches tall but still has more room to grow before his hits maturity at 2years of age. We did not have him neutered because we had hoped that he would one day father cute copies of himself. It deeply saddens our family to have to rehome this loveable guy but unfortunately our situation has changed and we want to make sure he ends up with the best forever family possible. Please do your research on this breed before contacting us as they have a guard dog leniage and will bark if they sense danger. He also requires regular exercise and while he is crate trained he enjoys sleeping next to his owners. He has truly been a sweetheart and would make a great addition to any family. Serious inquiries only please. (Less)

A Beauty with Special Needs. Foster or Adopt. You will be hard pressed to find a more beautiful dog than Nickels, or one who has had a harder life. This gorgeous 3 year old needs extra care and by someone who will have the patience and love to work with him. He was never properly socialized, might have been used in a puppy mill, so he needs to learn what kindness is, and to not be afraid. He is unsure of strangers and will need one on one training and a very secure stable and calm person or couple. A home in which he will be the only dog or with a submissive female would be ideal, and while he is learning social skills no children. ... (Read More)Nickels is healthy, heartworm negative, neutered and about 65 pounds. He is not doing well with the stress and noise at the kennel so he must be rescued fast. (Less)

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Casper is a sweet boy. He needs a yard to run in. Our current living situation has put us in the position where it's not fair to Casper. He gets along with most dogs and humans. He is food aggressive. He is not a fan of being groomed and needs to be muzzled during grooming. An ideal home for Casper would be one where he has plenty of room to run and play. It truely breaks my heart to be creating this post but it will be close to a year before we can have him in a home with a fenced yard and show him the attention he is used to.

My name is Bella. I am a 4 year old Great Pyrenees/Anatolian Shepherd mix. I am a sweet girl that loves attention from everyone. I have lived outside until I was taken in by Cliffords Army. I am doing fantastic on this housetraining thing. I am looking for an indoor home only. I am not the herding type. I love playing in the water and playing outside but would love to find a home where I can be inside and close to my new family. I would do best as the only dog as I crave all the attention and do not want to share my food, toys, or humans with other dogs.
