Vanessa DOB 1/10/15 Great Pyr/Aussie/Lab Mix Vanessa - AKA Nala came to us from Kentucky where she was found with her siblings matted, cold, and scared. She was adopted as a puppy to a family that ran in to some difficult times and through no fault of Vanessa's, she needed to be returned to the rescue. Vanessa had not been socialized with many other dogs and really had no idea how to act with other dogs around. We did not have a foster home that had no other dogs, so we asked or training partners at Woofbeach to help. Without hesitation, they took her into their training program, which included going home with trainers each evening ... (Read More)and weekend because we had no foster home. Her named was originally Nali, but the trainers at Woofbeach thought she looked more regal'|so Vanessa it is! She was a star student and has been through the Woof Beach program and has passed with flying colors. She is great with people of all ages and sizes, loves children, and other dogs! One of the pictures here is at one of the trainer's homes with his children and his dogs'|she has really come a LONG way! We cannot thank Woofbeach enough for helping us in our time of need. They say she is a sweetheart that deserves to find her forever home. If you are interested in her, you email us at safehavendogsil@yahoo.com or you can ask about her at any of the Woofbeach locations (Batavia, Geneva, or South Elgin). Rescue Me ID: 16-11-18-00305Bear (male)

Great Pyrenees    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Very Low Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered

'I live in Chicago, about 3 years ago I rescued a Pyrenees that a vet estimated was 16 weeks old based on some baby teeth he had. He was living on the streets and wandered over to the school I work at. My son has pretty severe eczema, and we recently discovered on a trip to his allergy doctor that he has developed an allergy to dogs that is aggravating his condition. We are heartbroken that we now have to find a new family to take care of Bear. I am looking for any help you may be able to offer to find another family for Bear. Typical of Pyrenees, Bear is very loyal and protective of his family and his house. He is very sweet with ... (Read More)children, we have 2 kids so we have lots of kids over and he is great with them, even ones he has never met before. Because Pyrenees are so loyal and protective of their people, it is important that they are socialized when they are young so they do not become overly aggressive with new people and new dogs. Since he was young Bear has been socialized by interacting with new people and dogs at the Portage Park dog park and at play groups at Tucker Pup's in the west loop of Chicago. Bear is 90 pounds, he likes to go for walks once in the morning and once at night around the park (about a mile), other than that he likes to lounge around the house and snuggle with his family. He thinks we are is herd, so he likes to be wherever the family is in the house. Despite his large size, he makes an excellent house dog and doesn't require much indoor space, he is perfectly content laying around and watching over his family as long as he gets his walk in the morning and evenings. Bear, like most Pyrenees, are prone to wandering and have to be kept on leash for walks. (Less)
