|Rescue Me ID: 14-10-24-00631Puddy (male)|
Puddy is a handsome, calm, and often easy-going, 10-month-old, 106-pound, male Great Pyrenees pup looking for a loving guardian. Puddy is living in a foster home with four cats and two other dogs and he's typically well-behaved with them, however he does display some guarding tendencies. This is not particularly surprising since the breed was typically kept to protect a farm's horses, llamas, sheep, goats or chickens. So, ideally he's looking for a home as the one and only pet. His guarding issues have thus far been confined to his home environment, so he's had no issues with dogs at the beach or dog park. He's looking for an experienced big dog-lover to take him under their wing for continued training and long life of love. Puddy is typical of the Great Pyrenees breed, somewhat stubborn and strong-willed, drooly and all around fun to be around. He's great on leash, fine in the car and after a lot of work and training, he knows how to climb up and down stairs. He has learned to sit on command and is very treat-motivated. He's perfectly fine with being handled and lets you touch him anywhere and rub his belly. He is doing well on his housebreaking, but he does need a consistent schedule and can't yet make it past the six hour mark, yet. Puddy was originally gifted to an 85-year-old couple. They already had two dogs tied outside their Indiana trailer home, but their daughter thought they needed an indoor dog too. So, poor Puddy was crated and pad-trained until he was six months old and then he became too much for the elderly couple to handle. When his rescuer picked him up, he was full of fleas and worms, and his muscles were so atrophied from lack of exercise he could barely stand, let alone walk. Luckily he was brought back to Chicago where he received the loving care he deserved. Four months later, he is now very healthy and still growing. He is neutered, de-wormed, up-to-date on vaccines, micro-chipped, heartworm-tested, treated with flea preventative and on monthly preventative. He even had his hips x-rayed. To meet and possibly adopt Puddy, please contact his foster mom Brita at firstname.lastname@example.org or 773-428-7088. His adoption fee of $250 benefits rescued pets. (Less)

|Rescue Me ID: 14-10-21-00651Gage (male)|
Available after 11/1 Seldom do we have this much information on dogs that we rescue but Gage has been in a foster home in Alabama and is getting RAVE reviews. Gage is good with people, good with dogs and GREAT with CATS. He has no food or toy aggression. Just a very mellow guy that craves human attention. Prior to foster we do not think Gage had ever been in a house. He did not know what stairs were and he was terrified of the tile and wood floor. He has overcome these fears and loves being part of the household. He is ATTACHED to his foster mom and will follow her from room to room; almost as if afraid she will disappear. He will do best in a home where someone is home or where he will only be left home for a few hours. Standard adoption fee is $295 and includes spay/neuter at our participating vets, immunizations/shots up to the point of adoption, fecal, deworming, frontline, 1st vet visit at one of our participating vets, micro-chipping and 30 days of shelter care insurance.
