For those of you that have been blessed with a Great Pyrenees in your life already you know how wonderful they are. Great Pyrs are known for the devotion, gentle nature(they really are big teddy bears!), calmness, and of course their protectiveness of their domain. They are not aggressive protectors but will certainly let you know when they see something amiss, which may be a strange bird or perhaps your neighbor mowing his lawn(of all the nerve!). They can be the most wonderful family dog-I have had 4 of them-but they do need to be in the right situation for their needs. Sandor was brought back to us after a 2 1/2 year adoption do to some changes in the home. For those in the know, Pyrs do not take well to change, they are truly creatures of habit. They typically do not like to leave home unless they have been exposed to travel from the beginning. Transitioning a pyr to a new home does take time and patience. At first Sandor just wanted to stay outside-we had to force him back in the house. He was at first fearful but now will easily go in an out and even let us know what he wants. He is still cautious but is doing great, his adoptive family will have to be very patient and understand that it will take time to help him settle in and adjust to his new home. He will have to have a fenced yard-no exceptions. He loves other dogs, especially the smaller ones. His best pal in Pickles our Havanese mix. Sandor is very gentle and loving, so incredibly sweet and patient and of course housebroken. He is a wonderful boy and will be a terrific addition to a lucky family. He is just 3 years old and about 120-130 pounds. (Less)
